Vision
The department of agricultural engineering was established with the establishment of College of Agriculture,
Bikaner to teach the courses of Ag. Engineering in B. Sc. (Hons.) Ag programme. With the advancement of
technologies in the field of agriculture, the department has vioson to establish a College of Ag.
Engineering &
Technology in SKRAU campus at Bikaner. The use of renewable energy sources in domestic and agriculture
sector is
essential looking to the fuel crisis and depleting fossil fuel reserves. So, the department will establish a
Renewable Energy Park at SKRAU Bikaner. Water is a critical input in agriculture and water conservation and
efficient irrigation is the need of the hour, so the department will establish a water technology park near
the
University Museum for the visitors. Work on the use of Remote Sensing Based Irrigation Management system
will be
initiated for the precise use of water along with automated irrigation system. Research will be initiated on
solar based automated poly houses, their management and evaluation in arid region, use of solar dryers for
drying arid fruits and crops residues management for food and fuel. For developing entrepreneurship in
youths, a
course on “Irrigation system developer” will be started.
Mission
To achieve the above mentioned targets a proposal has been submitted to the State Govt. for establishing
Agriculture Engineering College in SKRAU, Bikaner for consideration. The proposal for establishing Renewable
Energy Park in SKRAU, Bikaner has also been submitted to the state Govt. for consideration. A distance
education certificate course on ‘Jal Bachat Kheti’ in Hindi has been prepared and being run by DHRD of the
university. To promote research on the new aspects, 2 projects have been submitted in RKVY on solar drying
and use of crop residues for briquetting which are under consideration.
Distance Education Certificate Courses of three months duration are proposed on:
(i) Protected Cultivation and Secondary Agriculture.
(ii) Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Domestic and Agriculture Sector.
The department aims to prepare these two certificate courses in Hindi language to be run through Directorate
of Human Resource Development of the university.
The fee will be Rs 1500/- per course.
Mandate
The overall mandate of the department is to educate the students in the field of agricultural engineering and to
provide technical advices to the students of other departments who opt the interdisciplinary research related to
water management, renewable energy, protected cultivation, post harvest technologies, agricultural processing
and farm machineries. The department is also maintaining the office vehicles and farm machineries of the
college. The development of literatures and lecture PPTs as per course requirement and preparing manuals of the
courses are also included in the mandate of the department
