Live Stock Production and management

Vision

• Develop proficient and skilled human resources in the field of Livestock Production.

• Undertake region-based, need-based, and basic research for improving animal productivity by adapting modern
technology.

• Provide the high quality and productive livestock and poultry breeds for their maximum production and
supply to the needy farmers of the state.

• Develop various sustainable housing modifications in livestock rearing according to the climatic
conditions.

• Develop complete package of practices of Dairy, Sheep, Goat, and Poultry rearing.

• Impart training on modern and scientific methods of livestock farming.

• Researching new avenues and approaching higher studies in the field of Livestock Production and Management.

Mission

Department of Livestock Production and Management is to develop manpower with
the high managerial skill who can perform independently in Livestock and poultry farms with following
mission-

• Imparting quality education in Livestock Production and allied sciences.

• Undertake need-based and basic research, integrated education, and research.

• Researching new avenues and approaching higher studies in the field of Livestock Production and Management.

Mandate

• Quality education and research on various aspects of Livestock Production including providing advisory and
extension services through scientific knowledge and expertise.

• Strengthening hands-on training to students with special emphasis on capacity building.

• Providing opportunities to faculty and staff to improve their scientific and working capacity and
capability to make the university a vibrant organization.

• Undertaking need-based applied and basic research in strategic and emerging areas of animal production.

• Collaborate with state Agriculture and Animal Husbandry functionaries, Indian Council of Agriculture
Research, Institutes related to Animal Production, Livestock industry, and NGOs in an attempt to develop a
resurgent, sustainable, profit-oriented, market-based production system for livestock, poultry, and allied
sectors.
